The Snyderville Basin Planning Commission’s newest member, Chuck Klingenstein, was awarded the Meritorious Planner award last week by the Utah Planning Association for his 22 years of planning as both an elected official and his work with non-profit organizations.
Klingenstein was nominated by County Councilmember Sally Elliott, who said she was inspired by Kingenstein’s motivation to form and serve as founding president of the Summit Land Trust in 1989, now known as Utah Open Lands.
Klingenstein went on to serve on the Park City Planning Commission and worked as an adjunct professor at the University of Utah. He later became a consultant for engineering and environmental services firms. Klingenstein was appointed to the Basin Planning Commission in August.
According to the Utah Planning Association, the Meritorious Award is given to an individual who has contributed to the planning profession over a long period of time. This award generally requires at least 20 years of service. This award is not given annually, only when warranted.
