Danny Fisher started teaching at the Park City High School last January. This year, Fisher will be teaching several business courses including entrepreneurship, accounting, financial literacy and computer technology, along with advising the Future Business Leaders of America program.

Fisher graduated in December with a Master’s Degree from Westminster College. Before that, he lived in several areas of the country including, Texas, New Mexico, Nevada, Washington, Florida and Utah. Fisher previously held several sales and account manager positions.

Fisher, who lives in South Jordan, said the 40 mile drive to and from work gives him a chance to catch up on the news. He enjoys all outdoor winter activities including skiing and snowboarding.

“I always said that if you didn’t have to worry about money you may as well do what you want. I realized that you’ll always worry about money so you may as well do what you want anyway,” Fisher said.

Fisher said the class he is most passionate about is business literacy because of the skill sets it can teach young adults.

“When I went through high school it wasn’t even something that was on the radar and I think its one of the most useful classes. Whatever someone wants to go into, they will have to deal with finances,” he said.

According to Fisher, Utah passed a law more than five years ago that required the course to be taught in all the high schools in the state.

“The thing I’m looking forward to the most is being able to be a positive influence in students’ lives.” Fisher added, “It’s rejuvenating.”

Fisher said one of his goals for the students this year is to win the Future Business Leaders of America’s regional competition.

“I have a personal goal to try and win our regional competition and take the trophy this year. Wasatch took it last year, and repeatedly wins it and I would like to change that,” he said.

Fisher said, so far this year there are 33 students who are members in the club.

“Last year was the high school’s first year having a club and it was fairly small so we’ve been focusing on membership. Last year we sent two students to nationals and four students qualified,” he said.
