Broadway producer Lee Marshall has opened a new office in Park City.
Marshall’s MagicSpace Entertainment produces Broadway shows and events like the Titanic exhibit that visited ZCMI several years ago, and the King Tut exhibit that toured this year. He works with David Copperfield and Lord of the Dance. MagicSpace most recently produced the shows “Rain A Tribute to the Beatles on Broadway” and “Donny & Marie A Broadway Christmas.”
Marshall said he worked out of a New York City office for years, but was recently operating from Ohio. He has owned a home in Park City for 20 years, and maintained a Salt Lake City office with about 20 employees. He recently relocated to Park City permanently and opened an office at the Summit Center on Rasmussen Road.
The new space will be home to the producing division of the company with himself and about half-a-dozen other employees.
The last year has been good for the company, with the first six months of 2011 among its strongest periods. A poll named MagicSpace the fifth-largest presenter in North America.
“Everything soup-to-nuts is run here,” he said. “I don’t need to be in New York to do what I need to do any longer. I chose quality of life.”
Marshall and his wife are also active in the Park City nonprofit community. He is helping The Egyptian Theater produce “Jesus Christ Superstar” this winter with the star from the original movie and costumes and sets from the road show. Marshall’s wife volunteers with the National Ability Center and helps produce its annual Red, White and Snow fundraiser.
