The Park City Police Department early Wednesday morning captured two teens suspected in a string of burglaries in the city, including at the Recycling Center.
The police said two officers were on patrol in Prospector at approximately 4:30 a.m. when they heard noises sounding like someone was breaking into a building. One of the officers discovered that a restaurant on Prospector Avenue had been broken into.
The officer saw two youngsters run away from the restaurant. The other officer chased the suspects on a police bicycle, catching one of them on the 2200 block of Sidewinder Drive, the police said.
The person is a 16-year-old boy who lives in Summit County, the police said. The 16-year-old told the police where the other youngster lives, the Police Department said. The other youngster, a 13-year-old boy, was taken into custody at his parents’ home in Prospector.
The police said stolen property was found at the 13-year-old’s house.
The two will be referred to juvenile court on counts of burglary, theft and criminal mischief, the Police Department said.
The investigation is continuing. Kirk said the recovered property was amassed from the Recycling Center, a vehicle break-in and a business burglary in Prospector.
