The 2011 Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah will roll through Summit County and various cities around Utah this week.
After the prologue opened up competition Tuesday at the Utah Olympic Park, the official stages get underway today as the first stage will be featured in Ogden. The 116-mile stage will involve three complete ascents of the North Ogden Pass Road. It will start at 11:30 a.m. and is scheduled to run until about 4:30 p.m.
The second stage on Thursday will showcase racers riding around Utah Lake, down to Nephi and back to Provo for a total of 100 miles.
Stage three will be an individual time trial at the Miller Motorsports Park that totals nine miles.
The fourth stage will be a circuit race in downtown Salt Lake City totaling 82 miles.
The fifth and final stage will start at Newpark Town Center in Kimball Junction Sunday at 11 a.m. Cyclists will ride East toward Kamas on S.R. 248 around Jordanelle Reservoir and down into the Heber Valley. From there the grueling ride will take cyclists down Provo Canyon and then onto the Alpine Loop. The fifth stage will end at Snowbird Resort around 4:30 p.m.
Summit County Sheriff Dave Edmunds said he doesn’t anticipate any road closures to accompany the final stage around the county.
“If there are any closures, I don’t expect them to be anything major,” he said.
