When it comes to the Fourth of July, Park City knows how to celebrate.

The partying begins Saturday, July 2, at Deer Valley with the Utah Symphony’s “Patriotic Celebration” and continues with Canyons’ July 3 event and ends with the multiple activities that happen throughout Monday, July 4, on Main Street, City Park and Park City Mountain Resort.

Here is the schedule of events for Park City’s Fourth of July celebration:

  • 7 a.m. – Pancake breakfast at City Park
  • 8 a.m. – Park City Ski Team 5k fun run starts at Cole Sports. $20 registration by calling (435) 649-4806.
  • 10 a.m. – Rugby games, live music and barbecue at north end of City Park
  • 11 a.m. – Fourth of July Parade, boasting more than 70 floats and Air Force fly over
  • 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Lunch served by Sunrise Rotary in City Park
  • Noon – Motherlode Canyon Band, blues, City Park Bandstand
  • 1 p.m. – Holy Water Buffalo, rock, City Park Bandstand
  • 1:30 p.m. – Pie eating contest for ages 13 to 20
  • 2 p.m. – Cameron Rafiti, electronica, City Park Bandstand
  • 2:20 p.m. – Pie eating contest for ages 21 and older
  • 3 p.m. – Ever Since Tomorrow, classic rock, City Park Bandsand
  • Dusk – Fireworks at Park City Mountain Resort

    A new addition the Park City’s Fourth of July free public parties is the Uncle Uncanny art and entertainment event at the Town Lift Plaza that will start right after the parade.

    The plaza will be filled with music, art and entertainment, said Maxwell Morrill, marketing coordinator for Uncle Uncanny’s, a music and event organization based in Park City.

    The bands will include the blues jams of Junior & the Transportation, the honky-tonk rock of Triggers and Slips, the earth jams of High in the Sky, Revolver (a Beatles tribute band) and the rock of Holy Water Buffalo.

    “We’re excited to be joining the Fourth of July celebration this year in bringing local music to the local Park City area,” Morrill said during an interview with The Park Record. “It’s going to be a really good gathering and we are grateful for the opportunity of exposing people of all ages to Uncle Uncanny’s, which is a huge supporter of music in Utah.”

    In addition, children and their families will be introduced to Gary Swanson, of Silent Swan Studios, who will bring his art and interactive marionette, Morrill said.

    “Gary is very active in the art community,” he said. “He had an amazing exhibit down at the Utah Arts Festival last week, and up here he’s going to have a selection of his paintings and the marionette there for people of all ages to play with.”

    Morrill said the Uncle Uncanny’s Fourth of July event is another opportunity for people to get out and enjoy the holiday with the community.

    “I think we’re filling niche of music and art, and we’re providing another gathering space for family and friends,” he said. “I’m looking forward to having an amazing event.”

    The Uncle Uncanny’s Fourth of July Event will begin at 11:45 a.m. at the Town Lift Plaza on Monday, July 4. The event is free.
