Late City Councilwoman served with ‘grace and class,’ mayor says

Mayor Dana Williams honored the late Park City Councilwoman Candy Erickson on Thursday night, saying she served Park City with "grace and class."

In comments during the first City Council meeting since her March 24 death, the mayor said Erickson taught him to champion City Hall staffers as she did.

Erickson’s nameplate remained on the City Council dais on Thursday. A bouquet of roses was placed next to the nameplate during the meeting.

A celebration of Erickson’s life is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Eccles Center.

Erickson died at 55 years old, succumbing to complications caused by colon cancer. She was nearing the end of her third term on the City Council, having been first elected in 1999.

Williams and the City Council are preparing to select a successor. Nobody had submitted their name by midmorning Friday. The deadline to file the paperwork is 5 p.m. on April 11.
