An expensive fur coat disappeared from the Bing setup in the Claim Jumper building, the Park City Police Department was told, a high-dollar loss that continued to stump investigators early in the week.
The Police Department received the report at 9:06 p.m. on Saturday from the Claim Jumper.
Phil Kirk, a police captain, said the full-length fur coat is valued at $25,000. It is made of sheared beaver fur with a trim made of fox fur.
Kirk said the police by Monday did not have a suspect and had not collected evidence. The Police Department did not immediately have details about the person who owns the coat.
It is rare for someone in Park City to report a loss as valuable as the $25,000 figure attached to the fur coat.
Meanwhile, the person who reported the missing coat also told the police a backpack made by Eddie Bauer also disappeared. The backpack is valued at $600, Kirk said. The backpack was a freebie given away as part of a marketing campaign.
Bing turned part of the Claim Jumper building into a hot spot during the Sundance Film Festival, and there have been large crowds both inside and outside the building.
