Six people face felony charges after a New Year’s Day attack at a home in Highland Estates.
Investigators said five of the suspects entered the Highland Drive home while a woman waited in a getaway car at about 6 a.m. on Jan. 1.
One of the men arrested attended a New Year’s Eve party at the home earlier in the evening, said Sgt. Ron Bridge, a spokesman for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
“The suspect was asked to leave by the homeowner,” according to Bridge.
The man refused to leave and was forcibly removed from the home, Bridge said.
Threatening text messages were sent later to those inside the house, he added. At about 6 a.m. the man returned with several friends and forced entry into the Highland Estates home, the authorities said.
The suspects assaulted people inside before fleeing the area, according to Bridge.
“It was a violent act: kicking, punching,” he said. “It was five on one as they were waking people up one at a time.”
There were no weapons involved. The authorities said the suspects are all from Summit County.
They each face a first-degree felony charge for aggravated burglary. They are each also charged with assault, which is a class B misdemeanor, according to 3rd District Court records. A first-degree felony is punishable by a life prison sentence.
The suspects include James Lamar Paul, 22, Bryan King, 20, Nicholas Grinolds, 18, Rocky Damiano, 18, Cody Andersen, 24, and Monica Delkettie, 19.
