For 37 years, the Park City Ski Swap has given skiers and snowboarders an opportunity to raid warehouse chock-full of snow gear.

The 38th annual ski swap will be no different.

Early equipment check-in begins Nov. 1-4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Jans and Cole Sport stores on Park Avenue.

Swap organizer and Park City Ski Team director Jesse Hunt is excited for the opportunity to continue this rich local tradition and expects a great turnout, as usual.

“It’s basically a shop-til-you-drop atmosphere,” Hunt said. “It’s a bunch of great new equipment available, ranging from skiing to snowboarding and to Nordic skiing.”

The swap begins Friday, Nov. 5, at the Basin Field House in Newpark. From 3 to 7 p.m. equipment check-in continues. Starting at 8 p.m., the swap commences and goes 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

“It’s a massive event that brings everyone out,” Hunt said. “Locals, folks from the Salt Lake Valley are interested in chasing all this stuff down.”

“Friday night is super busy and exciting. There are so many great deals. It’s three pretty busy days of shopping. There’s always a little bit for everyone.”

The three-day sale will continue on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Ticket prices gradually decrease as the days go on. Friday night’s admission is $10, while Saturday’s is $5, with Sunday’s being a mere $2. Kids under the age of 12 will be allowed in for free each day of the swap

Hunt said he expects about 6,000 swap-goers this year and is excited about the potential turnout.

“There’s all kinds of equipment,” Hunt said. “It’s quite an array. It should satisfy any winter sports fanatic.”

Proceeds will go to the Park City Ski Team, which is a nonprofit organization.

It is Hunt’s second year on the job. He said that last year, 4,000 people attended the swap and that more than 24,000 items moved in and out of the Field House.

If you’re looking for a place to nab a pair of skis, or get a winter jacket, or even buy a helmet or boots, the 38th annual Park City Ski Swap should live up to its past.

There will be a variety of equipment, new and old, available to swap hunters.

And it couldn’t be in a more prime spot, according to Hunt.

“It’s a super location,” he said. “Right off I-80, easy access.”
