A Wyoming woman suffered serious injuries in a traffic crash Tuesday afternoon on westbound Interstate 80 near Silver Creek.
Westbound Interstate 80 was closed as crews investigated the crash, according to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Todd Johnson.
Evanston resident Linda Fowler, 58, was not wearing a seat belt when her vehicle rolled over at about 1 p.m., Johnson said.
“She was not ejected, but she needed to be extricated,” he said.
Johnson said “the most serious injury was a broken ankle.”
“She went off into the median and hit the barrel,” Johnson said. “The construction barrels were sitting in the median. She hit one of them and then hit the Jersey barrier.”
The vehicle rolled and the woman suffered head and neck injuries, he said.
She was taken to a hospital in Murray. Johnson blamed the crash on a medical condition.
“The sergeant thought possibly she blacked out,” Johnson said. “In fact, she said she was headed to a doctor’s appointment.”
