A scene from a movie that is said to star Diane Keaton and Kevin Kline is scheduled to be shot on Main Street on Wednesday, adding a hint of Hollywood glitz to an otherwise gloomy day.
Crews were seen in the morning setting up for the shoot outside Chimayo restaurant, putting up lights and moving equipment into place. A few onlookers stopped to watch, but it did not appear that shoot had attracted fans.
Max Paap, who handles special events for City Hall, a police officer and a Park City building inspector were monitoring the scene.
Paap said the crews had been shooting since Friday at locations across the Park City area, including Guardsman Pass, Deer Valley, Trailside Elementary School and Rotary Park.
"My understanding is they wanted a small mountain-town setting. I believe with the star power they wanted to keep locations to a minimum," Paap said.
Paap said the shoot in the Main Street area was expected to last throughout the day on Wednesday. He said scenes are planned at Chimayo and at the intersection of Park Avenue and 10th Street.
Paap said the working title of the film is "Darling Companion." Internet sites that closely follow Hollywood list a movie with that title starring Keaton and Kline. Lawrence Kasdan is directing the film, Paap said. He is known for his work on some of the "Star Wars" films and other blockbusters.
