A Francis woman suffered serious injuries in a traffic accident Thursday morning near Kamas.
The crash occurred on eastbound State Road 248 about 10 miles from Kamas. Twenty-year-old Alyssa Gardner, who was driving a Chevrolet Lumina, was airlifted from the scene of the crash after she rear-ended another vehicle driven by a 53-year-old Oakley man.
The highway was closed as the medical helicopter landed in the South Summit area.
"[Gardner] had to be extricated from the vehicle," a Utah Highway Patrol trooper said.
Gardner’s injuries were not life threatening, according to the authorities. The crash is under investigation.
