Bill Kranstover and CJ Schneckloth took the familiar Claim Jumper sign Thursday, carrying it away across Main Street after removing it from the historic building.
Kranstover says they plan to clean the sign and then give it to the Park City Museum. According to Kranstover, a previous owner of the Claim Jumper a few years ago had discussed with him the idea of taking down the sign and donating it to the museum.
It was not clear whether the bank that controls the building now authorized the removal of the sign.
The Claim Jumper fell into disrepair in recent years as developers were unable to push forward with ambitious renovation plans.
