A spokesman for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office says a man who carried out two armed robberies in Summit Park is in custody.
Alberto Alejandro Guadarrama, 42, is accused of robbing the Sinclair gas station at 185 Aspen Drive twice in August and November 2007.
“[The suspect] was interviewed by a detective and presented with the evidence that was against him,” Summit County Sheriff’s Office Detective Ron Bridge said in a telephone interview.
Deputies then collected a DNA sample from the suspect.
“At that time this gentleman gave a full confession of committing the robberies,” Bridge said.
Bridge would not comment extensively about evidence in the investigation.
“There was some evidence that led us to this gentleman,” Bridge said.
The suspect is currently incarcerated in Utah and a warrant for his arrest has been issued in Summit County.
“He will be transported ether to the Summit County [jail] or directly to prison,” Bridge said. “He committed the crime of armed robbery on two different occasions.”
The suspect reportedly brandished a weapon in both robberies.
Results from the DNA testing had not returned on Tuesday, Bridge said.
