A crash on Interstate 80 in the North Summit area March 20 forced the closure of the westbound lanes.
The rollover involved one vehicle and nobody was seriously injured in the traffic accident, according to Cameron Roden, a spokesman for the Utah Highway Patrol.
The 24-year-old man who was driving the GMC truck suffered minor head injuries, Roden said.
“The passengers said that he had swerved to miss a deer,” Roden said.
The driver and two passengers were transported to University Hospital in Salt Lake City, Roden said.
“The vehicle rolled and came to rest on [the driver’s] foot, but they were able to get him out,” Roden said.
Nobody was ejected from the vehicle.
“They stayed inside but I think his foot came out of the window a little bit,” Roden said.
The crash occurred at the port of entry near Echo, he said.
“They did close the road,” Roden said. “The port was right there so they just put all traffic through the port of entry while they cleaned up the crash.”
No citations were issued, he said.
