Two people were appointed Wednesday to replace retiring Eastern Summit County Planning Commissioners John Blazzard and Antone Powell. Blazzard and Powell each served three consecutive terms, which is the limit for planning commissioners in Summit County.
The Summit County Council voted unanimously to appoint Woodland resident Tom Clyde and Kamas resident Tonja Hanson to the East Side Planning Commission.
"We had 18 really competent, capable people apply," Summit County Councilman John Hanrahan said.
This week, 16 of the original applicants were interviewed. Mike Crittenden and Richard Salowey withdrew their applications.
The other applicants included: Allen McNeil, Rod Maxfield, Rob Burkinshaw, Marion Wheaton, Bradley Marchant, Bill Wilde, Richard Gunnerson, Chris Ure, Paul Weller, Thomas Boyer, Paul Evans, Preston Tholen, Kent Peterson and Brian Blazzard.
"They were all great," Summit County Council Chairwoman Claudia McMullin said about the pool of applicants. "I want to publicly thank every one of these people."
