Just in time for Sundance.
A Summit County councilwoman has revealed that a private elevator at the Park City Medical Center can discreetly whisk away celebrities after they have plastic surgery.
“It’s quite interesting,” Councilwoman Sally Elliott said in a meeting with state lawmakers at Kimball Junction.
The elevator allows high-profile patients to avoid the lens of the prying paparazzo while visiting the hospital at the outskirts of this swanky ski town, which is the site of the Sundance Film Festival.
Celebrities can ride the elevator while utilizing the “Tiger Woods New Knee Room,” Elliott joked. Woods has been rumored to have visited a doctor in the Park City area when the professional golfer’s knee had bothered him in the past.
Intermountain Healthcare spokeswoman Amy Roberts stressed that the elevator is not only for celebrities.
“We do have a private elevator to exit from the surgery area, but it is for anyone who would like to use it, certainly not just high-profile people,” Roberts said in an e-mail to The Park Record.
The names of patients who have used the elevator since it opened last year are confidential, she said.
“It’s available over Sundance to anyone, but I’m not sure we even have any celebs who are planning a procedure here during the festival,” Roberts said. “Don’t they all get plastic surgery before the festival? If someone got hurt on the hill and had surgery, he/she could certainly use it to exit.”
The elevator is one of the hospital’s coolest features, Elliott said.
But Summit County Councilwoman Claudia McMullin was not amused by Elliott’s remarks. McMullin quickly quipped that the secret elevator is the “most embarrassing part” of the hospital at Quinn’s Junction.
“Don’t advertise that,” replied state Rep. Christine Johnson, a Salt Lake City Democrat who represents some Snyderville Basin residents on Utah’s Capitol Hill.
