A 26-year-old Salt Lake County woman was lost in the woods for about three hours Saturday evening after she became separated from her husband while snowshoeing near Summit Park, the authorities said.
She was about four miles from the fire station in Summit Park when searchers made contact with the woman via a cellular phone, Summit County Sheriff Dave Edmunds said.
The woman was dressed warmly and had some food, Edmunds said.
She entered the woods from a trailhead in Summit Park, said Detective Ron Bridge, a spokesman for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
"She is just exhausted and just couldn’t get out by herself," Bridge said Saturday.
In a telephone interview Monday Bridge said searchers located the woman within about three hours. The woman’s husband was cross-country skiing in front of her when the two became separated, Bridge said.
"He went back to look for her and couldn’t find her," Bridge said.
