Firefighters descended on a Prospector restaurant at just before 9 a.m. on Wednesday after an explosion was reported on the roof, but investigators said the damage to the building did not appear to be serious.
Bob Zanetti, an assistant chief of the Park City Fire District, said firefighters were called to Good Karma, 1782 Prospector Ave., by someone who heard the explosion and said they saw flames coming from the building.
When firefighters arrived, though, they did not see the flames.
Jason Stucki, a fire district captain who responded, said people in the building next door reported hearing a “loud boom.” When firefighters climbed to the roof, they saw the covers of a roof-mounted furnace opened, he said. The covers normally would not be open, according to Stucki.
Zanetti said investigators were looking at the heating and ventilation system.
Three customers and a few restaurant workers were inside Good Karma at the time, the Park City Police Department said. Nobody was injured.
An investigator from the Park City Building Department arrived soon after the firefighters.
The owner of Good Karma said the restaurant is expected to reopen as early as dinnertime Wednesday.
