Alcohol might have factored into a crash that killed a 40-year-old West Jordan man Thursday morning, the authorities say.
Michael J. Bunting was traveling westbound on Interstate 80 near Wanship when, for an unknown reason, his Chevrolet van went off the road to the right at about 12:08 a.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol troopers.
"The driver then over-corrected back to the left, impacted a concrete barrier and overturned," according to a statement from the Highway Patrol.
Bunting, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Lanes were closed for about two hours as emergency personnel cleaned up the crash.
