A Denver man was charged with a felony after officers found several pounds of marijuana June 30 at a traffic stop on Interstate 80, the authorities say.
The driver of the vehicle, Gary P. Vigil, 24, was charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, which is a third-degree felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, which is a class B misdemeanor.
Inside the vehicle, which was stopped in Silver Creek Canyon, officers also found about $5,840 in cash, according to Detective Ron Bridge, a spokesman for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
Vigil was stopped for a minor traffic violation, Bridge said, adding that a police dog was used in a search of the vehicle.
Marijuana was concealed inside the vehicle in a large duffel bag, according to Bridge.
