A man will not serve jail time for pleading guilty to theft after he stole high-end headphones from an electronics store at Tanger Outlet Center while working on a cleaning crew at the shop, according to filings in 3rd District Court.
On April 13, Mark A. Baca, who is in his 30s, pleaded guilty to one count of theft, a class A misdemeanor. The charge was reduced from a third-degree felony.
Baca was ordered to pay a $400 fine and $2,045 in restitution to the business.
A hidden-camera sting at the Bose store at 6699 N. Landmark Drive helped uncover the theft, according to Ron Bridge, a spokesman for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators suspected several headphones were taken from a storage room at the store over a six-month period of time.
Headphones worth about $1,000 were concealed inside a cleaning bucket and removed from the store, according to Bridge.
Bridge claims detectives observed the theft via closed-circuit monitoring inside the store.
