A traffic crash Monday morning on State Road 32 in Marion killed a 41-year-old Peoa man.
Daniel Howells died when he was struck head on in his Saab by a Dodge pickup truck, said Cameron Roden, a spokesman for the Utah Highway Patrol.
The crash, which involved four vehicles, occurred near 1450 North at about 6:55 a.m., Roden said.
The driver of the pickup truck was traveling northbound and attempted to pass a Mazda car moving in the same direction on the highway, Roden said.
“He goes in the opposite lanes of travel and doesn’t quite make it,” Roden said. “He ends up clipping a Jeep coming the opposite way.”
The driver of the Jeep lost control and went into the opposite lanes striking the Mazda, he said.
“After clipping the Jeep, the pickup truck goes head on with the Saab,” Roden said, adding that Howells died at the scene.
Portions of State Road 32 were closed most of the morning as a result of the crash, he said.
Howells’ daughter was a passenger in the Saab. She suffered only minor injuries in the crash.
People in the other vehicles were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, Roden said.
