Eastbound Interstate 80 in the Snyderville Basin closed for almost two hours Monday as debris was cleaned up from a traffic crash that involved a semi-truck and a private bus taking people to Colorado, the authorities said.
“I believe it was dark at the time,” Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Cameron Roden said about the crash that occurred at about 9:30 p.m.
The eight people inside the bus were transported to the hospital with injuries ranging from “minor to moderate,” Roden said.
The crash happened on I-80 near U.S. 40 in western Summit County.
Both vehicles were traveling eastbound but the driver of the semi-truck, who wasn’t injured in the crash, claimed the bus didn’t have taillights on when he struck it from behind, Roden said.
“He clipped the corner of the bus,” Roden said, adding that the bus overturned onto its driver side.
Two men and six women were inside the bus at the time of the crash, he said.
“None of the injuries were life threatening,” Roden said, adding that the truck driver wasn’t injured in the crash. “No citations have been issued right now.”
