A 50-year-old North Summit man is charged with three first-degree felonies for allegedly sexually abusing a girl he is related to.
“Between 1997 and 1999 this occurred,” said Josh Wall, a spokesman for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the case.
Michael Bosworth was charged Aug. 22 with three felony counts related to sexual abuse of a child.
The victim recently told her clergyman about the crimes, Wall said.
“Getting a disclosure from a child is very difficult,” Wall said. “It takes us longer sometimes.”
But this case, he said, “came together pretty well.” Deputies arrested Bosworth Aug. 19, he said.
“We only know of one victim,” Wall said. “But we want to make sure there are not other victims. It’s still under investigation.”
Bosworth, who was incarcerated this week in the Summit County jail, made his first appearance Monday in 3rd District Court and is scheduled to appear at a roll call hearing in the Snyderville Basin Sept. 8.
Bail for Bosworth is set at roughly $120,000. About $100,000 is cash only.
