Neighbors complain about drivers who speed on Old Ranch Road.
Some people think more signs would slow the motorists down.
Snyderville Basin resident Greg Lawson wants “us to address the speeding problem on Old Ranch Road,” Summit County Engineer Derrick Radke said about a letter Lawson wrote to the Summit County Commission.
“It’s the same speeding problem we have on every other road,” Radke said. “We’ll look at signage along that section, but signage itself is not going to solve the problem.”
Officials suggested increasing traffic enforcement on Old Ranch Road where the speed limit is 25 mph.
“It’s their own people who are [speeding],” Summit County Commissioner Ken Woolstenhulme said. “The same ones who are complaining are doing it.”
Summit County has a program for traffic calming and neighbors can apply for projects on their streets, Radke explained.
“We try to work with neighborhoods the best we can,” said Radke in a telephone interview. “The first part of the policy talks about the philosophy, what we can and can’t do and what the purpose of traffic calming is.”
