Gary Hill, City Hall’s budget chief, will leave the Park City government in September to become the city manager in the Davis County city of West Point.
Hill, who is 34 years old, has worked for City Hall since 2000, rising from managing municipal capital projects to his current position. He starts in West Point at the end of September.
"This has always been a career goal, to be a city manager," Hill said on Wednesday morning, calling West Point a "hidden gem" of the Wasatch Front.
Park City staffers were told of his departure recently, and a formal announcement from City Hall is expected soon.
Hill said he enjoys working at City Hall, and he will miss staffers there and the challenges of government work in Park City. Hill said leaders in West Point will make decisions over the coming 10 years that will influence the next 70 years.
"That’s exciting, because everyone wants to be involved in a situation where they can help determine the ultimate nature of their community," Hill said.
