Daren Barney, the mayor of Ivins, Utah, said midday Friday the town’s top lawman, Wade Carpenter, will leave to become the chief of police in Park City.
Barney said Carpenter has told officials there of his decision. Park City officials late Friday afternoon are expected to announce Carpenter’s hiring.
"I can’t think of someone else who I would choose," Barney said.
Carpenter earlier on Friday declined to discuss his hiring. He was expected to visit Park City late on Friday. Park City Manager Tom Bakaly declined to confirm Carpenter’s hiring.
