Kamas-based artisans Lori Dayton and Chloe Fryer miss the summertime markets, full of food and crafts.
“We just thought it would be nice to have something in the off-season,” explains Fryer. “We wanted to give ourselves and other vendors an opportunity to do something in winter.”
This Saturday, March 8, Dayton will be purveying her all-natural soaps and Fryer her hand-made modern southwestern jewelry, at the historic Miners Hospital for an event they’re calling the first annual Spring Artisan Boutique. In addition to goods that include woodworking, and home-made chocolates, the girls have also added local belly dancers and live music by the Mountain Mamas into the mix. “We just want it to be fun for people, just an opportunity for the community to come out and have some fun and for the venders to show off their goods,” Fryer says.
Fryer was inspired by the Sundance Catalog to begin combining beads, sterling silver and crystals into unique bracelets and earrings.
Dayton began making soaps two years ago because she says she wanted a natural product for her family to use. She has since expanded to market her homemade recipes under the name Wild Willow. Her soaps feature olive oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil and lye; her body creams are made of olive butter and cocoa butter in scents like lavender and pumpkin spice. She also makes grapefruit and peppermint lip balm.
“I moved here in July and wanted to have a venue to sell stuff and Park City is a great place to do that,” says Dayton. “I think it’s important to know where what you buy comes from It’s part of a healthy, well-balanced life.”

The event is free and open to the public.
