Apple to offer Slamdance on an iPod near you
The Slamdance Film Festival is going portable. On Monday, the alternative film festival announced a partnership with Apple to launch a new program, the Slamdance Podcast, on iTunes.
The podcasts will include trailers and screening times for many festival films, along with festival highlights, alumni updates and other content, all free and available for download to anyone with a video iPod or an Apple computer.
In conjunction with the podcast, Slamdance will host a podcast screening and discussion led by the filmmakers of the 2005 Slamdance Film Festival film “Four Eyed Monsters.”
The podcast screening and discussion of “Four Eyed Monsters” will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 8:30 p.m. in Slamdance’s Sitting Room Theatre at the Treasure Mountain Inn. For more information, visit www.slamdance.com.
X-Dance offers another Sundance alternative
Can’t find tickets to any screenings at the Sundance Film Festival? X-Dance might be an alternative. The Boost Mobile X-Dance Festival Presented by Scion will run Jan. 20-24 on the second floor of the Main Street Mall.
Launched in 2001, the film festival focuses n action sports films and the action sports culture. In addition to free screenings, there will also be filmmaker panels, athlete forums and awards.

Eccles Center show coming after Sundance
The Eccles Center won’t go dark when the Sundance Film Festival ends. Saturday, Feb. 4, the Park City Performing Arts Foundation will host Obie Award-winner Bob Berkey. A theatrical artist, Berkey combines physical comedy, acting and juggling for a funny show appreciable by all ages.
For the main event on Feb. 4, which is part of the Performing Arts Foundations Pillow Theatre series, kids are encouraged to bring pillows and blankets so they may sit close to the action.
