Blais cast Park City High School graduate Jesse Blais, 21, currently living in California was recently cast for Operation Panjkot, the reality TV show satire created by Anna Green and Troy Icono of Panjkot Productions. The premise that contestants would compete with earthquake survivors for tents, food and clothing in Panjkot, Pakistan was designed to be so offensive and appalling that someone would take notice. Originally, Blais said he was willing to go into the middle of the desperate situation in the isolated mountain villages of northern Pakistan. After finding out that the casting call was a satire, Blais still wanted to help the people of Panjkot. He believed he could help the earthquake victims because of his experience in winter survival growing up in Utah. Conceived as a way to mock reality television’s emphasis on contrived situations while ignoring the people around the world surviving desperate humanitarian crises, Operation Panjkot has become a way to raise awareness for the ignored victims of the earthquake in Pakistan. In comparison to the world’s response to the tsunami and the hurricanes in the U.S., the lack of donations was appalling. Over 70,000 people died and thousands face starvation and freezing temperatures. Blais is an outstanding athlete in skiing, backpacking, sailing, football and more.
