The UMFA to celebrate Day of the Dead
On Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 5-8 p.m. the Utah Museum of Fine Arts at the University of Utah will present a free family fiesta to celebrate The Day of the Dead. Activities at the celebration will include art projects, music, dancing, movies and Mexican food. Additionally, a family membership will be given away every half hour. Julie Nester Gallery will hold an exhibition of works by Gary Denmark Nov. 4-26. On Nov. 4, the exhibition will begin with a reception for Denmark from 5:30-8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Denmark’s paintings are inspired by the landscapes around him and reflect their palate and feelings. To make his works, he draws upon a printmaking background and uses tools like squeegees, sponges and stencils to create his images. Denmark’s works have been shown in the American Museum of Fine Arts in Washington, D.C. and in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, among other places. The Park City Ambassadors will host their 28th annual "Snowflaker’s Ball – Winter Elegance" on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Park City Marriott Hotel, located at 1895 Sidewinder Drive. Attendees are encouraged to wear white attire and hope for snow.
