A Summit County man wanted for allegedly assaulting his elderly wife has been found in Montana.
Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a report around noon on Monday from a man who said a domestic assault had occurred at his parent’s house in eastern Summit County, according to a media release.
Deputies were dispatched to the home and found a 73-year-old woman “had been violently assaulted,” the report said. She needed immediate medical attention. The woman was transported to a trauma center via helicopter.
Investigators identified the alleged perpetrator as Kevin D. Wilde. Wilde is the woman’s husband. He is in his early 60s. Incapacitating injuries delayed her ability to report the incident so, Wilde was able to leave the scene several hours before law enforcement arrived.
Wilde was tracked using bank transaction information and license plate recognition technology. Law enforcement across Utah and surrounding states were asked to help locate Wilde.
Information received by investigators Tuesday morning led them to believe Wilde had traveled through Idaho and was headed toward Montana.
Summit County deputies learned Wilde was taken into custody around 11:30 a.m. after he attempted to flee from authorities.
The Third District Court issued an arrest warrant. The Sheriff’s Office is working with law enforcement in Montana to arrange for him to be transported back to Utah.
The woman is being treated for non life threatening injuries. She is recovering.
