Carol Ann Wakefield died peacefully on the evening of August 31, 2026, at Intermountain Health St. George Regional Hospital, with her husband and five of her seven children at her side. She was 83.

She was born on Valentine’s Day, 1943, in Mobile, Alabama, the second of Fred and Marion Davis’s four daughters. She grew up mostly in Mobile, with several years in Chateauroux, France, where her father worked as a civilian employee at the Air Force base. After high school, while working as an X-ray technician and taking classes through the University of Alabama, she met a Naval aviation cadet in flight training across the bay in Pensacola named Anthony L. Wakefield. They fell in love quickly and completely and married on December 19, 1964.

They began their family at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, where sons Glenn and Todd were born. Daughter Sherry arrived a few years later, after Tony left the Navy and the family settled in Southern California. There they built a home, a career in the airline industry, and an orchard of 800 avocado trees. In 1979 they more than doubled their family, adopting three siblings – Paul, Matt, and Amy – and also taking in their adult older brother, Mark, as their own. In 1984 they moved the family to Summit County, Utah, where Carol spent the next thirty years before she and Tony moved to St. George in retirement.

Carol carried the grace of the Southern belle she was raised to be and the grit of the Western mountain woman she became. She never met a stranger. She would welcome anyone into her home as family, sometimes to the surprise and even the chagrin of her actual family – though every one of us has since come to wish we could be more like her in that regard. She was a mama bear in defense of her children, and if the moment called for it, she could tell someone exactly where to go – but so sweetly that they would look forward to the trip.

She and Tony were inseparable for nearly 62 years, as husband and wife and as best friends. Their travels took them to very nearly every continent ocean, much of it by ship. Through five years with COPD, the illness that ultimately took her home to her Maker, she was slow to complain and quick to name what she was grateful for.

If Carol lived by a single principle, it was that love conquers all. She met eight decades ·of whatever life sent her by throwing love at it – at the problem, and at everyone in the room while she worked on it. Her life is the argument for that principle.

She is survived by her husband, Tony; her sisters, Edna and Judy; her children, Mark (Elva), Glenn (Trista), Paul (Elizabeth), Todd (Paige), Matt, Sherry (Fred), and Amy; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Patty, and two grandchildren.

A service and celebration of life will be held at the Park City Community Church on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. 4501 UT-224, Park City, UT 84098

Colin Peter Hilton died in Park City, Utah on Friday Aug. 21, 2026. He was Born the youngest of 7 siblings on May 1, 1968, in Buffalo, New York to John and Mary Hilton, Colin has always been a deeply determined, forward thinking, and exceptionally kind individual. His legacy is characterized by the depth of love he held for his fellow humans and deep considerations for impact on the future.

Colin was married to Missy from 1999 – 2025, they have three children, Shane (23), Evan (now Evie, 21), and Adam (19), whom he loved beyond measure.

Colin carried profound affection for his siblings, nieces and nephews, his dogs Taz and Sunny, and of course Utah. He had a passion for outdoor sports and relished the wholesome everyday experiences, like making chicken wings while cheering on his favorite teams like the Buffalo Bills or having a beer or a gin & tonic with the most wonderful neighbors on Sagebrook.

His career in sports management spanned nearly 40 years. Beginning humbly with the World University Games and FIFA world cup, to becoming President and CEO of the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation for the past 20 years, and most recently, ensuring the Winter Olympics came back to Utah in 2034. His impact will be carried forward for a long time to come.

Our greatest sadness in the end, was that his depression limited his ability to feel all the immense love that was present in his life. Colin’s struggle got away from him in the last few days. His family keeps coming back to is this: suicide happened to Colin. It was not something he wanted. He was fighting, trying to find a way back to his loving family and life.

To everyone left behind: we are here with you. Grief cannot be taken away, but the heaviest weight can be shared. Please reach out a hand to others, tell someone if you are overwhelmed and need help. You are never alone. You matter. We love you.

A public Celebration of Life will be held in September to honor Colin’s enduring contributions to his local community, Utah’s Olympic legacy, Utah 2034, and the global Olympic movement. Above all, we will celebrate the countless lives he touched, inspired, and enriched along the way.

JERRY MICHAEL TROY, retired Merchant Marine passed away in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, August 19th at the age of 84 after a short illness.

Mike was born on July 18th, 1942 in San Diego, California. He attended College in San Francisco, California and then Went to the Merchant Marine Academy where he recieved his Bachelor Of Science Degree in Nautical Science. He worked as a Merchant Marine all over the world for 50 years.

He was an avid Outdoorsman. He shot Trap, rode his Motorcycle, hiked, played Pickleball, went Bowling, did Archery, played Bridge, Went Fishing, Kayaking, camping and loved to Cook and Bake.

Mike will be remembered most for his generosity and love for Children. He was his own Man and did what he wanted, when he Wanted, no matter what.

He is survived by his only Daughter, Dreanne Foust, his Grandchildren, Mary and Jack Foust, all of Napa, California and his two Sisters Marianne Cahalan of Park City, Utah and Carmel Engel of Napa, California, Cousins, Dan and Joanne DeBonis of Park City, Utah and a Circle of Friends.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Timothy Henry Brennwald, “Tim,” 62, a longtime resident of Park City, Utah, died suddenly on August 13, 2026.

Tim was blessed with a rare talent for making difficult things look easy, both athletically and professionally. He possessed an unassuming strength and steadfast character that defined both his personal and professional lives. Tim was handsome, charming, and private, with a gracious, reserved presence that never sought attention, yet always seemed to draw it through his infectious, dimpled smile.

Tim was born December 23, 1963, in Zurich, Switzerland. After the family relocated to the United States, he attended Vermont Academy in Saxtons River, Vermont, and the University of Maine at Farmington. Tim ski raced under legendary coach Tom Reynolds and earned a bachelor’s degree in business through the university’s renowned Ski Industries Program. There, he gained his first grounding in the business, management, and operational side of the ski industry that would become such an important part of his life.

After graduating in 1986, Tim became the international technician for Marker Ski Bindings. For the next five years, he was an integral member of the World Cup tour, supporting both speed and technical events throughout Europe. Tim eventually rose to leading Marker’s Race Program and product management worldwide; he “did it all.” It was the beginning of a career that would span the ski industry, real estate, and mountain resort operations. At the time of his death, Tim served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of POWDR. For 17 years, he was a steady hand guiding the expansion and advocacy of POWDR and the outdoor industry.

Those who worked with Tim knew him as a great friend with an incredible ability to bring humor and sarcasm into even the most tense and challenging moments. Much to the dismay of friends and competitors alike, Tim excelled at nearly everything he tried. The Swiss part of him embraced procedures and processes — a trait that served him well throughout his life. He led humbly, with a calm confidence that inspired both affection and respect from the industry.

Of all his accomplishments, however, Tim’s greatest pride was his family.

Tim met the love of his life, three-time Olympian Heidi Voelker, on the World Cup circuit. His love and devotion to Heidi was immediate and remained absolute for 37 years. Their marriage was marked by deep affection, mutual admiration, common interests, and a shared sense of humor.

Together, Tim and Heidi raised their two sons, Lucas and Stefan, who were his “everythings.” Whether watching their lacrosse games, ski races, chasing one another down a ski hill, or competing with them on the golf course, Tim loved being with his boys. Last year, he took great pleasure in helping them obtain Swiss citizenship, bringing his family heritage full circle.

In addition to his wife and sons, Tim is survived by his parents, Heinz and Marion (Tauber) Brennwald; his brother and sister-in-law, Daniel Brennwald and Lindsey Whitaker; his aunt and uncle, Hank and Sally Tauber; his cousins Kristina and David Tauber, and his many nieces and nephews.

Tim is loved by a wide circle of friends around the world who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for how he carried himself. Sail on, Noodle!

A celebration of Tim’s life will take place at the Cliff Lodge at Snowbird Ski Resort on Saturday, October 17th, 2026, at 3pm MT. In lieu of flowers, Tim would want you to pray for snow and strong winds in the summer. Additionally, donations can be made in his name to Park City Ski & Snowboard.

Anthony “Tony” Winterer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026, at the age of 77, with his family by his side.  He was born in Carrington, North Dakota in 1948 to parents Lawrence William and Mary Ellen Winterer, the youngest of six children.

Tony grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from Judge Memorial High School in 1966.  He earned his Bachelors in Environmental Studies from Utah State in 1970, returning to Utah State to earn his teaching certificate in 1972.  He earned his Masters in Education, in American Indian Education in 1980.

Tony spent the first eleven years teaching at Kayenta High School, Arizona on the Navajo Reservation.  He totally immersed himself in the Native Culture including learning to speak Navajo.  He then moved his family to Salmon, Idaho where he was the principal at Salmon High School.  Desiring to return to Salt Lake City to be closer to family, he accepted a job at Park City High School.  He taught biology, human anatomy, botany, zoology and environmental science. Tony’s teaching career extended over 37 years, the last 22 years at Park City High School.  As a highlight he received a dubious award of “craziest teacher” in 2008.

Tony loved the outdoors; many summers were spent traveling and camping with family and friends.  He loved to hunt and fish, always one to explore new interests and hobbies. He was an accomplished painter, author, musician, and singer/songwriter. He was self-taught on the banjo, mandolin and later the Native American flute.  He loved to participate in Mountain Man Rendezvous where he acquired several nicknames, “Thin Bear” and “Yellow Legs”.  He was a licensed falconer, training and hunting with his Kestrel “Nova” and then his red-tailed hawk “Wyatt”, which he also used in his classroom.  He built a Hawk Mew for his prized birds.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Darlene, his two sons Larry (Nicole McConnell) and Chris, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was especially proud of his grandson Avery who brought great comfort and joy in his final days.  Tony is also survived by his brother Joe Winterer and his sisters MaryAnn Jimenez and Teresa Jefferies.  Tony was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers Reverend Monsignor Michael and Lawrence “Laurie”, who he missed deeply.

Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday August 29, 2026, at 11:00 am at St Mary’s old town 121 Park Ave, Park City. A Celebration of Life will follow at 12:00. Please join us to share memories and stories, bring any memorabilia you may have to share.  Interment will be at Mount Calvary, Salt Lake City.

Ron Sharp was born to John and Pearl Sharp on April 13, 1949 and grew up in Newport Beach, California. He dabbled in different sports and activities, but found passion in surfing and riding motorcycles.

After high school, Ron enrolled in Chapman College and took to the seas with World Campus Afloat in 1968. He was expected to attend classes when the ship docked, but never one to miss out on a new experience, Ron skipped his classes and took to exploring destinations from South America to Europe to North Africa. When he returned home, he decided he preferred the classroom of the world to academic halls and left college to return to Europe.

After riding his bike across the Pyrenees (including through an unexpected snow storm), Ron landed in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1969. It didn’t take long for him to meet and fall in love with Lona, who was working in Garmisch as a professional figure skater.

After returning home to Southern California, Ron was missing the mountains of Europe so he took off on his motorcycle to explore the mountain towns of the west. When Ron landed in Sun Valley, he didn’t expect to stay for the next 30-plus years, but that’s what he did.

In 1971, Ron’s number came up and he was drafted into the Vietnam War. He worked his way up through the ranks and served as a US Army Green Beret. While he was in training, he married Lona in 1972. When Ron was deployed to Thailand, it didn’t take long for Lona to follow, spending their newlywed years in a hostile fire zone.

After Ron completed his service, he returned to Sun Valley and launched his entrepreneurial career. It started with Trail Creek Co. Realtors where Ron focused on residential real estate. Then, he opened Ronald J. Sharp and Associates where he focused on commercial real estate development and property management. With his valued partners, Ron developed commercial real estate projects in Ketchum and Bellevue, Idaho, Washington state, and Park City, Price, and St. George, Utah. In 2001, Ron and Lona permanently relocated to Utah. When he wasn’t working, Ron was riding motorcycles, skiing, riding bicycles, and sharing his passion for adventure with his family. He also remained passionate about surfing and was a founding member of the Surfing Heritage Foundation. He maintained a personal passion for real estate and was constantly moving or dreaming up a new floor plan. Despite his professional success, Ron’s most cherished role was that of loving husband, father, and grandpa.

Ron lived life to its fullest and his common refrain when reflecting on his life was “I’ve had a blast, I wish I could do it all over again”. Ron is survived by his loving wife Lona, his eldest daughter Kahrin and her husband Robert and their children Colin (15), Lyla (13), and Conner (13), his youngest daughter Katrin and her husband Ed and their daughter Anika (1), and his sister Lynda, and brother Dan.

Braedon Gross passed away on July 18, 2026. Braedon had a heart as big as the sky and lit up any room he walked into. He spread kindness to everyone—not just those he knew—and always provided a shoulder to anyone in need. We are so proud to have watched him grow into the generous, successful man and loving father he was. We will forever miss his infectious laughter and mischievous smile.

Braedon was born August 2, 1985, in Salt Lake City and grew up in Bountiful and Park City. He graduated from Sacramento State with a bachelor’s degree in business. His rise to Vice President at Goldman Sachs, with a CFP designation, is a testament to his commitment and work ethic. Braedon was a beloved teammate who earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Nothing was more important to Braedon than his children, Grayson and Alta. They were the center of his world. He was a proud and devoted father whose life’s work was ensuring his children were happy and secure. They will love and miss him every day.

Braedon’s athleticism was legendary among his family and friends and his feats are still talked about with awe and laughter. He excelled at anything he tried— from wakeboarding and snowboarding to basketball and baseball, and he was an accomplished weightlifter. His natural athleticism, competitive spirit, and determination earned him respect and admira-tion from everyone who knew him. But perhaps most endearing was his kid at-heart spirit. If he took Grayson and Alta to a trampoline park, he was right there with them doing flips and defying gravity.

Braedon was fiercely loved by his mother, Robyn Gross, and his father and stepmother, Rick and Julie Gross. In addition to his children and parents, Braedon leaves behind his best friend and sister Ashlee Christensen; brothers Kyle Weddington (Tiffany) and Payton Gross (Sarah); his niece, Emma Christensen; his dear love, Heather Mertz; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and colleagues.

Rest well our beautiful boy until we meet once more.

Joyce Cossin, 78, peacefully left this earth July 14, 2026.

Joyce was born in St. Petersburg, Florida. In 1968 she married Bill Cossin and became mom to Robin. They lived both in Florida and North Carolina and enjoyed a wonderful life until Bill passed away in 2006. In January 1972, Joyce was hired by National Airlines as a “stewardess”, going to Pan Am and then to Delta, being based in Miami, Atlanta and SLC, and returning in 2014. After retirement, she got a job at the Heber Airport, enjoying 10 years there. At the age of 50, while still flying, Joyce received her degree in psychology graduating top of her class.   Joyce was very involved in her community. She volunteered at the National Ability Center, Peace House, Newcomers, Sundance, she was a docent at the Olympic Park and she led worship services at Spring Gardens Assisted Living.  She enjoyed skiing, going to concerts, traveling and cooking.  She always had a pet to love, most recently her beloved cat Cowgirl.

Joyce is survived by her sister Gail, daughter Robin, son-in-law Bob, grandson Nick, granddaughter Natalie and nephews Allen and Todd.

A memorial service will be held at the Park City Methodist Church August 1, 2026 at 10AM. The family requests donations be made in Joyce’s honor to that church.

Joyce was a very special person. Her passion for life, kindness and generosity will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.

Evelyn Hargrove Falk died peacefully in Salt Lake City on July 15th, 2026. She was 92 years old and nearing her 93rd birthday. Evelyn was born in Harlingen, Texas, on August 14th, 1933, and grew up in the Rio Grande Valley, a place always dear to her heart. Her parents were Joseph Leon Hargrove and Marie Erickson Hargrove. She led a life of remarkable endurance and joy, and she was deeply beloved by her family and her very large number of friends.

After graduating from La Feria High School in Texas, Evelyn attended Austin College, from which she earned a degree in Music. She excelled there in voice and was accepted to do graduate work at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. She married John Falk in 1955 (later divorced). Her marriage involved a move to the Intermountain West, where Evelyn spent the rest of her life.

Evelyn had six children and was a devoted and supportive mother. She imparted to them her abiding belief in education, and all six earned college degrees. After her children were grown, she embarked on a career as a school teacher, earning a master’s degree from USU in the process. She taught first grade for almost twenty years at Millville Elementary School in Cache Valley, where her human and professional focus was teaching her students how to read. She won a national Title I award for promoting Reading Recovery and bringing that program to Millville.

Evelyn had a strong belief in the tenets of her Presbyterian faith and the promise of a future life. She was always welcoming, never judgmental, quick to forgive, and eternally grateful for the blessings of her faith and family. She was exceptionally positive even in difficulty, and she lived the deepest principles of her life every day. No conscious sense of duty was involved in this; it was simply a spontaneous manifestation of who she was.

For many years Evelyn was choir director at First Presbyterian Church in Pocatello and then at First Presbyterian in Logan. She was passionate about serving in this role and about the value of music in human life. In her later years, Evelyn founded and led a singing group at Park Lane Senior Living in Salt Lake City, where she made many wonderful friends.

Evelyn had a zest for life that survived many challenges. She was gregarious and cherished her relationships with family, friends, and people she met by the way. She considered herself shy, but she will be remembered for her social energy and being a character—and for her unfailing goodness of heart.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and by her siblings and in-laws Ray and Johnnie Hargrove, Arlene and Jim Teater, and Gen. F.E. “Rick” Hargrove, and by her grandson Lincoln Matheson. She is survived by her six children: John Falk (Cindy), Eric Falk (Stacie), Jennifer Falk (Mark Matheson), Michael Falk, Samuel Falk (Isabel), and Jeanne Falk (Jason Hone). She is also survived by her beloved sister-in-law, Patricia Hargrove, and by thirteen adored grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a growing number of great grandchildren-all of whom gave her great happiness.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jim Pearl, Dr. Don Lappé, Dr. Robert Nash, and Dr. Bart Weiss, who did so much to sustain Evelyn’s quality of life in her later years.

A memorial service will be held for Evelyn at the First Presbyterian Church in Logan, Utah, at noon on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026. Interment will follow at the Logan City Cemetery.
