The proposal for the American Fork Canyon Recreation Fee Area reduces the fee area, designates Cascade Springs, Silver Lake Flat, and Upper Falls as separate stand-alone sites, and retains existing information stations for visitor convenience. The proposal also requires only the National Park Service cave tour fee for visitors who go to Timpanogos Cave National Monument and do not visit other areas of American Fork Canyon. Forest officials are also proposing that visitors paying at concessionaire operated campgrounds would no longer pay the Standard Amenity Fee. The proposal does not close any recreation facility.

The proposal for the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway Recreation Fee Area eliminates the current fee area designation and designates specific recreation sites and Special Recreation Fee Areas for groomed winter trail systems. The proposal does not close any recreation facility.

The Forest will continue to honor local passes: 1-3 day pass - $6.00; 7-day pass - $12.00; and annual pass - $45.00. The Forest will also continue to honor the Interagency passes. The Forest Service is not proposing to increase fees.

Visitors may obtain comment cards at Forest Service offices in Pleasant Grove, Heber City, Kamas, and Evanston, Wyoming, and at information stations in the area. Comments may be submitted to these offices, or at the Forest website, www.fs.usda.gov/uwcnf. Additional information is also available at the website.
