Two incidents involved construction vehicles moving at 10 m.p.h. down Marsac Avenue, inspiring drivers behind them to pass on either side and driving on the wrong side of the road.

Other incidents reported to the Police Department between July 10 and 16 included:

Monday, July 10, at 5:22 p.m., a fawn was spotted in a residential yard, scared and possibly hurt and limping.

Tuesday, July 11, at 12:36 p.m. someone called in to report that their car has been broken into while standing in a parking lot off S.R. 224. The caller reported that broken glass was on the passenger side.

A young bear was in the yard of a house on Aerie Drive on July 11 at 6:01 p.m.

A suspicious person was reported seen on the roof of the Old Town Post Office at 12:54 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12.

A homeowner reported a bear came into their garage on Wednesday, July 12, at 11:06 a.m. and tipped over the garbage can.In an unrelated call, three males were reported tipping over garbage cans on Main Street at 11:37 p.m. that same day.

Thursday, July 13, Park City Mountain advised police officers two moose were in the base area in a high-traffic guest location.

A roof was reported on fire somewhere on Eagle Landing Court on Friday, July 14 at 7:20 a.m. The fire was thought to be due to a downed electricalwire and flames were visible.

A woman called in Friday at 3:11 p.m. asking if she could shoot the marmot hiding under the hot tub since traps were not working.

The police received a report of a break-in and burglary in a vehicle parked in the China Bridge parking structure at 1:39 p.m., Saturday, July 15. Several items were reported missing after the car had been parked on the second level for four hours.

Sunday evening, at 6:05 p.m., the police received a report of someone on top of a ski lift tower, about seven towers from Main Street.

A small dog was found locked in a car at 11:31 a.m. on Monday, July 3 in a residential neighborhood.

Tuesday

Two dogs were found locked inside a car at 1:48 p.m. near Park City Mountain on Tuesday, July 4.

A cow moose was reported spotted behind the Squatters and Top Stop at 9:43 p.m.

Wednesday

Graffiti was reported on the east-north corner of China Bridge parking structure at 1:04 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5.

At 8:59 a.m., a cow and yearling moose were reported as a potential traffic hazard. They were spotted on property approximately 30 feet off Monitor Drive.

Thursday

A woman called in stating that her homeowners association had sent her a photo of squatters, who appeared to have made a shelter on her property on Thursday, July 6.

Friday

Friday, July 7 at 6:25 a.m. a Toyota Tacoma was reported driving on the trails; leaving from the National Ability Center trailhead and heading west on Ability Way.

A business on Main Street reported a fraudulent cashier’s check at 10:48 a.m. after it received a check for more than $2,000.

The Park City Police Department on one day last week received at least three reports involving animals starting in the evening and extending into the nighttime.

The cases on Tuesday, June 27 did not appear to be related. At 10:48 p.m., a livestock problem was reported on Richardson Flat Road. There were wildlife issues reported at 9:58 p.m. on an unspecified block of Park Avenue and at 5:54 p.m. on the 2000 block of Park Avenue.

Another case was reported on Sunday, June 25 at 9:15 a.m. at or close to the intersection of S.R. 224 and Holiday Ranch Loop Road.

Public police logs did not provide details about the species involved in the wildlife cases. In many reports about wildlife, the police are called to respond to sightings of deer or moose.

On Friday, June 30 at 5:16 a.m., a carbon monoxide alarm sounded somewhere along King Road. Public police logs did not provide details.

On Thursday, June 29 at 10 a.m., a vagrancy report was logged on Short Line Road.

On Wednesday, June 28 at 8:27 p.m., a suspected drunken driving case was reported somewhere along Park Avenue.

Parking problems were reported at 11:33 a.m. on Monarch Drive and at 10:06 a.m. on Solamere Drive.

A traffic accident was reported at 9:28 a.m. on Guardsman Connection. The police said nobody was injured.

A case logged as disturbing the peace was reported somewhere along Empire Avenue at 1:47 a.m.

A suspected intoxication case was reported on Park Avenue at 1:28 a.m.

On Tuesday, June 27, the police received two reports of suspected thefts. One was reported at 2:50 p.m. on Main Street while the other was logged on Park Avenue at 12:19 p.m. Public police logs did not provide details.

On Monday, June 26, the police received two reports of traffic accidents. One was logged at 7:54 p.m. on Norfolk Avenue while the other was at 6:55 p.m. on Round Valley Drive. Nobody was injured in either of the accidents, the police said.

A hit-and-run traffic accident was reported on Kearns Boulevard at 9:22 a.m.

A small excavator was reported to have been stolen from a construction company working on Telemark Drive last week and then returned.

The piece of machinery was apparently taken two days before the 10:25 a.m. police report on Monday, June 19.

It was returned damaged, the police were told. The Police Department classified the case as suspected criminal mischief.

On Friday, June 23 at 5:16 p.m., the police received a complaint that a truck, apparently carrying tires, was blocking a lane of traffic somewhere along S.R. 224. The police said the truck created a traffic hazard.

Someone on the 2200 block of Ina Avenue contacted the Police Department at 2:12 p.m. indicating a truck had been parked there for a month. The department said it considered the truck an abandoned vehicle.

The police at 2:06 p.m. received a report that a passport was lost on King Road. It disappeared two weeks before the report to the police. The Police Department said the passport may have been lost at a residence. In an unrelated case, at 11:01 a.m., the police were told someone lost a purse on Marsac Avenue the day before the report.

The Police Department at 10:01 a.m. received a complaint that someone stole unspecified items from a garage. The suspect worked for the victim, the police were told. The Police Department classified the case as a suspected burglary.

Someone at 2:36 a.m. contacted the police about a party somewhere along Holiday Ranch Loop Road. The party was several addresses away from the person who called the police. The Police Department classified the case as suspected disturbing the peace.

On Thursday, June 22 at 7:58 p.m., a vehicle was reported to have been vandalized on Daly Avenue. The carmaker’s emblem was removed and the vandals tampered with the license plate, the police were told. The Police Department logged the case as suspected criminal mischief.

The Police Department responded to two cases along Main Street in quick succession. The first case was logged at 1:18 a.m. and involved a report of suspected disorderly conduct while the other occurred a minute later with a claim of intoxication. It was not clear from public police logs whether the cases were related.

On Wednesday, June 21 at 10:02 p.m., the police received a report that someone shined a laser in a woman’s eye through a kitchen window on Homestake Road. It happened twice, according to department logs. The Police Department indicated the circumstances were suspicious.

On Tuesday, June 20 at 8:18 p.m., the police received a complaint that a moose was seen approaching the road in the vicinity of S.R. 224 and Meadows Drive.

The Police Department was summoned to Sullivan Road close to the skate park at 7:41 p.m., when a man was seen wearing plaid shorts and a flannel shirt and carrying a green backpack. The man was “obviously smoking some sort of drug,” the police were told, according to department logs. The Police Department classified the case as suspicious.

The police received two reports of suspected vehicle burglaries within a short span in different parts of Park City. The first was logged at 6:38 p.m. somewhere along S.R. 224. The victim’s vehicle was a Jeep Grand Cherokee, the police were told. The other case was reported at 7:06 p.m. on Sullivan Road. Public police logs did not provide details about the second vehicle or the losses in the two cases.

A recreational vehicle was reported to be idling its engine in a parking lot on Little Kate Road at 5:28 p.m.

The Police Department at 5:19 p.m. received a complaint from someone on S.R. 224 involving a test drive of a vehicle. The police were told the person let a man take the vehicle for a test drive and the man did not return after an hour.

The rear license plate of a vehicle was reported stolen on the 900 block of Lowell Avenue. The license plate disappeared within the past few months, the police were told.

On Monday, June 19 at 5:55 p.m., someone on Euston Drive reported a transient camp. It was not clear from public police logs where the camp was found. Euston Drive is close to the Rail Trail, where other camps have been found.

On Friday, June 9 at 2:49 p.m., an unspecified traffic hazard was reported on S.R. 248.

A parking problem was reported somewhere along Kearns Boulevard at 1:55 p.m. Earlier that day, at 11:19 a.m., a parking issue was also reported on Kearns Boulevard. Public police logs did not provide details, including whether the two cases were related.

On Thursday, June 8 at 9:46 p.m., a large tree was reported to have fallen on the road on Marsac Avenue in Empire Pass. The police said the tree presented a traffic hazard.

At 6:44 p.m., the police received a complaint that money that arrived via a transfer may have been counterfeit. The case was reported on Iron Horse Drive. The Police Department indicated the circumstances were suspicious.

The vinyl cover of a convertible vehicle was reported to have been stolen at 5:47 p.m. The case was logged on Victory Lane.

Police officers stopped at least 14 drivers starting at 5:55 a.m. and ending at 8:26 a.m. The stops were conducted on streets like Kearns Boulevard and Wyatt Earp Way. Public police logs did not specify the suspected offenses that led to the stops.

On Tuesday, June 6, the Police Department received two reports of suspected intoxication, one at 10:05 p.m. and the other at 11:27 p.m. The earlier one was logged on Park Avenue while the other one was reported on Swede Alley.

A vehicle burglary was reported on S.R. 224 at 8 p.m. Public police logs did not provide details.

On Monday, June 5 at 10:43 a.m., a hit-and-run traffic accident was reported on Woodbine Way. Public police logs did not provide details.

A violation of Park City’s prohibition of vehicle idling was reported on Short Line Road at 7:55 a.m.

The report was logged at 4:21 p.m. on Saturday, May 27 at or close to the intersection of Kearns Boulevard and Bonanza Drive. The police were told a driver was headed inbound on Kearns Boulevard when the other vehicle “merged really aggressively,” according to department logs. The driver of the other vehicle made “gun motions,” the police were told. The Police Department also was told the driver of the other vehicle got out and approached the person holding a rock at a stoplight.

On Sunday, May 28 at 4:52 p.m., the police received a report that golf clubs were stolen out of a truck the night before. The case, reported on Rossie Hill Drive, was logged as a suspected vehicle burglary.

Items were reported to be missing from a residence on the 1800 block of Three Kings Drive at on May 28. The police were told a television, a sound system and a phone were among the missing goods. The Police Department said the case is a suspected theft.

A passport was found in a trash can somewhere along Main Street at 10:04 a.m. The police were told five dollars and a credit or debit card were also found.

On Saturday, May 27 at 4:24 p.m., someone, apparently a customer, found a lost dog on the 1700 block of Bonanza Drive. The person got the German shepherd into a vehicle, the police were told.

A Police Department dispatcher  at 11:52 a.m. saw on a surveillance camera there were three people atop a municipal waterworks building off Mellow Mountain Road. There has been repeated similar cases at the location over the years. The Police Department classified the case as suspected trespassing.

On Friday, May 26 at 9:56 p.m., a police officer helped an elderly couple find their vehicle on the 400 block of Swede Alley.

A cow moose was seen on Park Avenue close to the intersection of Kearns Boulevard at 8:29 p.m. It was gone by the time the police arrived.

On Thursday, May 25 at 9:34 p.m., the police received a complaint from somewhere along Doc Holliday Drive that a construction site was noisy. The Police Department classified the case as suspected disturbing the peace.

At 8:25 a.m., someone on Holiday Ranch Loop Road reported receiving a fraudulent call informing them there was a warrant issued for their arrest.

The ceremony is scheduled at 9 a.m. at the Park City Cemetery on Kearns Boulevard, the site of many previous Memorial Day gatherings. The event is expected to feature remarks by Dick Gallagher, who is a retired Navy vice admiral, as well as a lineup of others, including Brian Seay, who is the commander of the post, and Glenn Wright, a Summit County Councilor who has long been involved in the American Legion.

The event typically includes solemn words about the nation’s fallen soldiers, a flag ceremony and the playing of taps. Past ceremonies have drawn crowds of varying sizes with veterans, families of fallen soldiers and political leaders attending.

The reports were filed at 10:50 p.m. and 7:01 p.m. The case during the 10 p.m. hour was logged on Sidewinder Drive while the earlier one was reported on Gold Dust Lane. Public police logs did not identify the species.

The Police Department, though, regularly receives reports of sighting of deer, moose and elk. The cases on May 18 may have involved a beaver, according to a department posting online.

On Saturday, May 20, the Police Department received two reports of suspected thefts, one on Park Avenue and one on Empire Avenue within hours of each other in the morning. Police logs did not offer details of the cases, including the items that were reported missing and their value.

A hit-and-run accident was reported on May 20, the police said, describing that a vehicle hit a Bonanza Drive barrier. It “ended up on the side of the hill” and the driver ran away, the police said in an online posting.

On Friday, May 19 at 12:29 p.m., a trespassing case was reported on Snow Creek Drive.

A violation of Park City’s rules against vehicle idling was logged somewhere along Deer Valley Drive. The case was reported at 7:29 a.m.

A suspected fraud was reported on Stein Way at 2:54 p.m.

On Wednesday, May 17, parking problems were reported at or close to the intersection of Poison Creek Lane and Sidewinder Drive at 3:58 a.m. and 4:05 a.m.

Police officers pulled over at least 15 drivers during an approximately three-hour stretch starting at 7:12 a.m. The traffic stops were logged on streets like Kearns Boulevard, Wyatt Earp Way and S.R. 224. Police logs did not detail the suspected violations that prompted the drivers to be pulled over.

On Tuesday, May 16 at 4:20 p.m., the police received a complaint from someone along Kearns Boulevard saying a fire hydrant had been opened. There was “flooding everywhere,” the police were told. The Police Department, though, said the water was part of a waterworks operation known as a flush. During a flush, water is sent at high speeds through lines and a significant amount of water is released as a result.

Someone told the police at 1:23 p.m. a license plate was stolen from the front of a vehicle while it was parked somewhere along Park Avenue. The plate disappeared several days before the police were contacted. The Police Department classified the case as a suspected theft.

A dog was reportedly seen chasing cars on Holiday Ranch Loop Road at 10:16 a.m. The dog almost caused a traffic accident, the police were told.

On Monday, May 15 at 1:17 p.m., a large rock was seen in the road on Kearns Boulevard. It was in a turning lane and presented a traffic hazard, the police said.

A suitcase was apparently found in Park City at 1:09 p.m. It was seen 100 yards onto a Park City trail.

Ducks and ducklings were seen in the road somewhere along Park Avenue at 10:36 a.m.

Saturday, May 13

Deputies responded to a report of domestic violence in Snyderville Basin. Statements and evidence observed on scene suggested that a husband pushed his wife to the ground twice. Large contusions were observed on the wife’s arms. The husband was taken into custody without incident.

Deputies were dispatched to an assault that occurred at a Snyderville Basin area hotel. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with an intoxicated man who appeared to have a broken arm, and claimed to have been assaulted by a male in another room. Upon contact, the accused man and his wife stated that an intoxicated male had attempted to gain access to their children’s room. The man further stated he confronted the intoxicated male, and a physical altercation ensued. The first male admitted that he was intoxicated at the time of the incident, and that his actions were the cause of the altercation. He was cited for intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Friday, May 12
 
A white male, wearing a beanie, shorts, and t-shirt, was reported walking out of a Kimball Junction business carrying a 2-camera indoor/outdoor security system without paying for the item. The store provided surveillance footage of the suspect leaving the establishment carrying the package, getting into a silver sedan, and leaving the area. There are identifiable suspects in this case.

A woman reported money and a personal item stolen after hiring a person to perform yard work and minor home repairs in and around her residence. She confronted the man about the missing money and he denied taking it.

A deputy was dispatched to a report of an auto/pedestrian crash in Coalville. Upon arrival, multiple witnesses stated that a man was slowly backing out of a driveway, when a 9-year-old boy was riding his bike along the sidewalk. The driver saw the boy and stopped as he hit the boy’s bike, knocking him over. The boy was checked by medical and released to his grandmother who arrived on scene.

Thursday, May 11

At approximately 5 a.m. deputies responded to a structure fire at a home in Kamas. The fire department was able to put the fire out. No injuries were reported, however the house was burned to the point that it was condemned.

Wednesday, May 10

Officers responded to a report of multiple people fighting in the front yard of a home in Kamas. Two women had begun to argue which escalated to one woman biting the other’s finger. Neither party wished to pursue charges.

Tuesday, May 9
A man went to his family’s old timber mill and became aggressive and confrontational with the new owners. The man made multiple threats to harm the new owner, and was aggressive and confrontational with deputies upon their arrival. He was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Monday, May 8

A woman contacted dispatch to report her vehicle had been broken into while shopping. She said she was in the store for 15-20 minutes, and when she returned to her vehicle, the front driver side window was broken. She reported her purse missing. Video showed a newer model Jeep SUV parking next to her vehicle, and a figure is seen moving between the vehicles then driving away.

At approximately 12:32 p.m., a female shopper was approached by a woman while a second woman stole the wallet out of her purse. Multiple fraudulent charges were charged to the victim’s credit cards This case will be forwarded to investigation for possible follow-up.

A man at the Powderwood Apartments reported his cell phone and laptop missing from his vehicle. He stated he left the items on the front passenger seat of his vehicle with the vehicle closed, but unlocked. He said he was away from his vehicle less than five minutes and is confident the items were stolen from someone who had been watching him load the items into the vehicle.

Sunday, May 7

A man reported his on-and-off girlfriend had used his credit card without authorization. She charged for bills, flights and personal accounts.
