The 8th annual Bluegrassroots, The Timpanogos Folk Festival proudly presents a wonderful summer afternoon and evening with great music for the entire family on Saturday.
The event will be held again this year at the Orem City Center Park, 300 E Center St. beginning at 1 p.m. with an open mic for those with budding musical aspirations to perform before a live audience.
From 2-6 p.m. the best local groups in the area including The Beck Brothers Band, The Last Wild Buffalo, Kate MacLeod and The Reel Folk will take the stage.
Jam Sessions and workshops will be happening around the park during this time as well, so bring your favorite instrument to participate.
For Bluegrass Fans this will be LOTS of fun and a rare opportunity to be performing and working with the performing artists of the event.
Local food and music vendors will add to the enjoyment.
At 7 p.m., JigJam will take the stage all the way from Offaly, Ireland.
This incredible evening performance is Ireland’s contribution to America’s top bluegrass performing bands with a mission to proclaim the Irish roots of American Bluegrass — and Utah is sure to love it.
JigJam is a regular on the Grand ‘Ole Opry stage and always bring a high energy exuberance to its performance.
Well-known storyteller and radio personality, Sam Payne will host again this year.
“We’ve actually been trying to get JigJam to this event for a few years, now and this year, the schedule finally lined up for them to be able to attend,” said Rich Thurman, organizer and founder of Bluegrassroots, The Timpanogos Folk Festival. “With this local talent line up and headliner, this concert will be a summer evening to remember for the whole family.”
Bluegrassroots, The Timpanogos Folk Festival is presented by Utah Valley Arts and the City of Orem as a gift of appreciation and as part of America’s Freedom Festival.
The event is free, so no ticket is needed for admission. Attendees should arrive early to stake out seats on the expansive Orem City Center Park lawn to enjoy this awesome Summer event.
