A snowy morning marked the beginning of a new chapter for Dos Hermanos, the food vendor that has been serving up traditional Paraguayan street food for the past year.
The now-restaurant has officially opened its first brick-and-mortar location at Junction Commons.
The restaurant and staff welcomed guests into their new space, where the menu’s familiar aromas filled the air.
Guests who arrived by the 10 a.m. opening enjoyed an exclusive treat — half off their purchase.
Soon after, empanadas quickly disappeared from their display, and coffees flew from one table to the next as waiters rushed to keep up with the steady stream of orders.
For some, a steady line hampered wait times as the restaurant took their first stab at a dine-in experience.
Owners Rolando David Sanchez and Gianina Vera, who have cultivated a following with their food truck, said the new restaurant will allow them to expand their menu and share more of their country’s flavors with the community.
The menu showcases traditional Paraguayan dishes, including empanadas filled with beef, chicken, ham and cheese, corn and cheese or a variety of veggie options.
Other options like their lomitos, a classic Paraguayan sandwich, and shawarmas made with steak, chicken or mixed varieties among a selection of other traditional Paraguayan dishes round out the menu.
Staying true to their food truck roots, the restaurant served its food in takeout containers and on paper plates.
Sanchez and Vera said opening a permanent location was the next step after a successful year operating the food truck.
“We’re beyond excited to bring Dos Hermanos to Junction Commons,” said Sanchez and Vera. “After a year of sharing our love for Paraguayan street food through our food truck, we’re looking forward to welcoming guests into our new space and serving up the flavors they’ve come to love.”
The pair said they are excited to start this journey and grateful to be a part of the growing and renewed community at Junction Commons, formerly Outlets Park City.
“We will be a great addition to the center and the community, as we are the first Paraguayan restaurant in all of Utah.”
Dos Hermanos will be open daily from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. at 6699 N Landmark Drive, Suite N200, located in the Junction Commons upper bowl, near the playground.
