A 26-year-old man was arrested for intoxication after a Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputy saw him riding an e-bike near Bear Hollow.
The deputy was patrolling the area on Sunday night when he saw the e-bike traveling on S.R. 224, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office.
The man was traveling north towards Kimball Junction when he moved across the roadway to the center divider line. The deputy witnessed him cut off multiple vehicles. He then moved from the center lane into oncoming traffic, where he was almost struck.
The deputy followed the e-bike to a gas station. The rider had bloodshot eyes and poor balance. He also smelled like alcohol, the report said.
The man admitted to having four beers at 9 p.m. and a glass of wine. He said he rode from the Canyons Village area to the gas station. He was arrested and taken to the Summit County Jail. The man was released on his own recognizance Monday morning.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to several other calls between Monday, July 8, and Sunday, July 14, including reports of domestic violence, assault and active warrants.
Saturday, July 13
Deputies assisted Utah Highway Patrol in locating a vehicle where an ongoing domestic dispute was reported. A firearm was reported to be involved. The vehicle eventually came to a stop on eastbound U.S. 40. The occupants were detained, and state troopers took over the investigation.
A verbal altercation between four people was reported at a Canyons Village hotel. Those involved were heavily intoxicated and could not provide a clear account of what happened. Deputies determined a physical altercation did not occur. Three of the individuals were sent back to their rooms. The fourth person was unable to take care of himself because of his drunken state. He had nowhere to stay, so he was taken into custody for intoxication and transported to the Summit County Jail without incident.
Thursday, July 11
A van traveling westbound on U.S. 40 was seen driving poorly. Deputies stopped the vehicle and noticed the smell of alcohol coming from the driver and the car. The driver did not have a license and was under 21 years old. Deputies performed a breath test and arrested the driver when it came back positive. The car was state tax impounded.
Wednesday, July 10
Deputies stopped a vehicle after discovering one of its regular drivers had an active warrant. They spoke with the individual behind the wheel and determined the wanted person was at home. Deputies followed the vehicle to the residence and made contact with the male suspect. He was taken into custody and transported to the Summit County Jail without incident.
A Utah Highway Patrol trooper stationed in Coalville stopped a vehicle traveling 90 mph. The car crossed the center dotted line multiple times, and the trooper initiated a traffic stop. The driver agreed to a standardized field sobriety test, on which he performed poorly. The trooper attempted to arrest the man. However, he removed an item from his pocket and threw it toward the shoulder. A THC vape was found on his person. A small dime baggie of crystal methamphetamine was found near the road. The man faces several charges including DUI, possession of a controlled substance and speeding.

A Francis man was arrested for aggravated assault. The charges stem from a felony domestic violence incident.
