We only recently met Thomas Cooke at a public hearing concerning the proposed Cedar Crest Village Overlay Zone in the heart of Hoytsville. We are thrilled that he is running for Summit County Council and support him wholeheartedly! Having spent nearly eight years on the Snyderville Basin Planning Commission, he is incredibly knowledgeable and highly experienced in Summit County Code and the development pressures which face us all.
Of course, we cannot stop growth, but we can try to manage it as wisely and proactively as possible to get the best benefit and least harm. We believe Thomas understands this, and has the wisdom and capability to allow for the best community outcomes. Thanks to his tenure on the Planning Commission, he has zero learning curve and is ready to take the reins immediately.
Having lived for over 20 years in Park City and now nearly 20 years in Coalville, we fear that all of the development we’ve seen thus far on both sides of our beautiful county is only the tip of the iceberg of what could be coming. It gives us great hope that with Thomas Cooke on County Council, we may be able to manage the growth and development in a more rational and sustainable fashion than we’d be able to do without him.
As a county, we can help create better projects with all of our involvement, but we cannot undo bad projects once they happen. We will not be able to re-create the lush agricultural fields of Hoytsville once they are gone — to give but one example. Please join us in voting for Thomas Cooke, as we truly feel there is no one better qualified than him in this incredibly important election.
