Thomas Cooke has the integrity, vision, and most importantly, the experience to lead Summit County.
As former chair, and three-term Snyderville Basin planning commissioner, Thomas has a record of listening to residents, fostering responsible growth, and advocating on behalf of the community.
It is by no accident that Summit County has plentiful outdoor amenities, preserved natural beauty, and is an incredible place to live. Past leaders have thoughtfully navigated the challenges presented. Thomas will continue this tradition and be an excellent steward of this world-class place we call home.
Through his work on the Kimball Junction Master Plan, Canyons Resort Development amendments, and the Snyderville Basin General Plan, Thomas understands what is important to our community. Critically, he has demonstrated a healthy skepticism and caution when presented with transformational “solutions” that once implemented, can never be undone.
During his time on the Planning Commission Thomas has supported and helped improve numerous affordable housing efforts including Silver Creek Village, Lincoln Station, Canyons workforce housing to name a few. I trust he will continue this work and look to possible public/private partnerships to improve housing options for both current and future residents.
Thomas has a strong understanding of the important issues impacting the east and west sides of the county. Whether weighing budgetary demands or negotiating on the county’s behalf, Thomas will use his experience, integrity and vision to ensure needs are being met for all community members.
