The Summit County Sheriff’s Office arrested an individual with active warrants on Sunday.
A vehicle with two active warrants attached to it was located by deputies, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement confirmed the person with warrants was a passenger inside the car.
A traffic stop was initiated. However, the individual refused to provide deputies with the proper identification and refused to exit the vehicle.
Deputies were able to de-escalate the situation and convinced the passenger to leave the car willingly. The individual was arrested and charged with failure to disclose their identity as well as active warrants for failure to wear a seatbelt and criminal trespassing.
The vehicle was released to the driver.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to several other calls between Monday, May 27, and Sunday, June 2, including reports of driving under the influence, an intoxicated person and traffic stops.
Sunday, June 2
A vehicle without a rear license plate light was observed on S.R. 248. Deputies stopped the car and noticed the strong smell of alcohol. The driver was asked to participate in a standard field sobriety test and performed poorly. The driver was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail without incident. The individual was charged with suspected DUI, driving without a license and more.
Saturday, June 1
Deputies were dispatched to reports of an intoxicated man yelling at people near the Kimball Junction Transit Center. Law enforcement located the man and determined he was a threat to public safety because of his level of intoxication and arrested. He was charged with intoxication then booked into the Summit County Jail.
Friday, May 31
A hit-and-run was reported on the Exit 2 U.S. 40 on ramp. The suspect fled the scene, but deputies were able to locate him. A field sobriety test was conducted. The driver was ultimately arrested for suspected drunk driving. He was booked into the Summit County Jail.
Thursday, May 30
Deputies conducted a record check on a vehicle. They determined there were two active statewide warrants for the son of the registered owner. The son was confirmed to be driving the vehicle. He was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail without incident.
Wednesday, May 29
A traffic stop was conducted near Highland Drive. A records check showed the driver had an active warrant out of Summit County. The driver was arrested and transported to the jail without incident.
Tuesday, May 28
Deputies attempted to locate a driver that was possibly impaired. The vehicle was located on S.R. 224. Deputies stopped the car. The driver “exhibited obvious signs of impairment” including exiting the vehicle before putting it in park. The driver was arrested for suspected DUI as well as carrying a dangerous weapon while intoxicated.
Monday, May 27
Deputies became suspicious that a driver may be under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop near Newpark. A DUI investigation was conducted. The driver was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.
