Nestled mid-mountain at Deer Valley Resort, the Goldener Hirsch Inn, Auberge Resorts Collection have planned wintery experiences for guests eager to enjoy the season’s traditions.
Coinciding with opening day at Deer Valley, Goldener Hirsch will launch their Holiday Apres Experience on Dec. 2, which will be held daily from 2-4:30 p.m. on the restaurant patio. Offerings will include their classic hot pretzel with a selection of local and European cheeses, pastry creations from their in-house pastry chef, alongside Champagne and gourmet hot chocolate.
Also daily, hotel guests have access to classic holiday board games in the Antler Lounge, and starting Dec. 15, the Antler Lounge Bar will be open from 4-9 p.m., offering a range of wine, beer and craft cocktails options. Live music will be played in the lounge from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays – Saturdays, beginning Dec. 15. On Tuesdays and Sundays, from 3-4 p.m., complimentary Bavarian candies will be available in the lounge for guests as well.
Gingerbread chalet making and bavarian pretzel making culinary experiences will be held every week. The gingerbread activity, which includes hot chocolate, will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Thursdays and Saturdays, from $110/person. Pretzel making is scheduled for 2-4 p.m. on Fridays, from $75/person, and guests over 21 can add a beer tasting option for an additional $45. Guests must sign up in advance.
Leading up to Christmas, the hotel invites sign ups for an opportunity to create a personalized glass-blown ornament during one of three glass blowing classes, held on Dec. 13, 20 and 21. The class begins with a shuttle ride through the city to a glass-blowing studio, where a two-hour group class will be led by a professonal glass artist. The cost is $95/person, and registration can be made online.
Additional holiday activities include letters to Santa, held daily in the Antler Lounge, Austrian cookie making on Dec. 22 and the third annual visit of a Reindeer from a local farm on Dec. 23. On Christmas Eve, kids can leave one of their shoes by the Antler Lounge fireplace, and wake up to discover little gifts and treats pouring out of their shoes. Christmas Day, guests can watch as Santa skis down the mountain into Silver Lake Village.
The award-winning Goldener Hirsch Restaurant will offer a Christmas Feast from 5-9 p.m. on Dec. 24 and 25. This three-course pre-fix menu will include a golden potato & porcini veloute topped with creme fraiche, huckleberry gastrique and caviar; alpine chicken roulade complemented by acorn squash, wild mushrooms, heirloom tomatoes and cipollini onions; followed by Austrian chocolate ganache. The cost is $145 per person.
The Goldener Hirsch Restaurant will also host a New Year’s Dinner from 5-9 p.m. on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. This seven-course pix-fix menu is inspired by Alpine holiday favorites with a modern flair. The cost is $195 per person.
Throughout the season, complimentary s’mores kits will be available all day at the front desk for guests to roast over fire pits by the rooftop pool from 5-6 p.m.
