I am proud to live in Park City and love almost everything our community has to offer. But as a mom and local business owner, I have concerns about the future of our area. Do we want to be a town that caters only to vacation rentals and second homeowners? Or do we want to be a flourishing mountain town with a thriving and active community?
While my family no longer needs child care, we have benefited and continue to benefit from childcare in countless ways. To name a few:
- As an entrepreneur, I would not have been able to launch and grow a thriving business if my
children did not have quality, reliable child care. - My business operates with women at the heart of our operations, and if they drop out of the
workforce due to a lack of childcare, our business will not be able to function. - Thanks to a very special and attentive early childhood educator, we were clued into the
likelihood that our daughter was at risk for dyslexia at a very early age, which means we’ve been able to diagnose and start intervention as early as possible.
Our area already has a child-care crisis and it is about to get worse with the recent loss of pandemic-era funding. If we don’t support our children in the most pivotal years of their lives (ages birth through 5), think of the economic and social implications of that!
Please join us in encouraging our council members at both the city and county levels to support this in their budgeting and planning.
