The Park City Miners survived a turnover-filled contest tonight with the Stansbury Stallions. In doing so, the Miners advanced to 6-0, pulling further clear of the Tooele Buffaloes, who sit second in their region at 2-4.
Unable to get their ground game going with six starters missing time, including superstar running back Will McCurdy, the Miners had to fall back on big plays from backup QB Bash Bodily, along with their stout defense. Miners Head Coach Josh Montzingo sounded pleased with the contributions received by younger, more-inexperienced players who are growing into their roles as opportunities come along.
Montzingo touched upon Bodily’s knack for making big plays when Park City absolutely needed them, which included three miraculous touchdown passes against the Stallions. “He did a great job of really making some plays and keeping us in this game tonight,” said Montzingo.
Looking forward, the Miners will travel down to Salt Lake City next Friday night to face Cottonwood. The Colts were winless on the season heading into their matchup against Jordan tonight, and Coach Montzingo is sure that if his team cleans up some of their self-inflicted wounds from tonight, they’ll be able to compete with anyone moving forward.
