A 20-year-old Wasatch County man suffered minor injuries when the sport utility vehicle he was driving rolled over Tuesday morning on westbound Interstate 80.
The traffic crash occurred near Lambs Canyon at about 9 a.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Todd Johnson.
Omar Torres was traveling at a high rate of speed when the Ford Explorer struck a sign post, Johnson said.
"He was traveling down the canyon, lost control and struck a pole for an overhead sign on the left side," Johnson said in a telephone interview. "The driver was able to climb out on his own and was transported to [University Hospital] with minor injuries."
According to Johnson, "the vehicle was almost split in half after colliding with the pole."
Johnson said he does not know whether Torres was wearing a seat belt.
