Anderson Lumber has reopened at a new location and with a new name, Stock Building Supply.

“We moved out 4.6 miles east of the old location,” said Eric Woodland, the store manager for Stock Building Supply.

The old location, the Anderson Lumber property on Kearns Boulevard, is now one of the prime parcels in the efforts to reshape the North of Main district into a hotspot. It is among the largest pieces of land in the NoMa district, but its future will likely not be decided until a dispute between NoMa leader Rodmand Jordan and his former business partner, Mark Fischer, is decided.

Everything that was part of Anderson Lumber is in the new building. The last of the inventory was moved to the new site last weekend.

“We had a great team, they pulled it off slick, it worked really well and was very organized,” Woodland said.

It was an extensive move, he said, it took hard work moving all the equipment into the new yard and offices in just three days.

“It was a lot of hours in those three days,” Woodland said. “We made it happen as quick as we are getting over there.”

Woodland, who’s been with the company for the last seven years, is glad the move was made.

“It’s a bigger yard, a brand new location, better efficiencies and we will be better able to serve our customers,” Woodland said.

The old yard, he said, was a “bottleneck yard” and wasn’t as functional

“They’ve been discussing it for a couple of years, and now it’s finally happened,” he said. “We’ve done a pretty good job, a lot of people have been waiting for this for a while. I’m excited to be in the new building.”

The layout of the store also helps each department work well together.

“There’s a lot of communication within the departments,” Woodland said. “That’s critical in terms of all of us.”

There is a new show room that has displays of various items. Woodland said they have brought an extended mix of products and timber material along with the move.

“There are different items that customers can use, and a new door shop — a door manufacturing facility,” Woodland said.

Stock Building Supply is located at 1185 West Lori lane in Kamas. For more information, call 649-8477. The store is open Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. It is closed Sundays.
